About the position

The Activities Assistant at Suburban Woods Health & Rehabilitation plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for residents by assisting in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of various recreational and social programs. This position focuses on meeting the emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of residents through engaging activities, while adhering to health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of recreational, social, educational, cultural, physical, emotional, and spiritual programs for residents.
• Follow health, sanitary, and infection control policies as established by the community's administration.
• Maintain established standards of practice set forth by Life Enrichment Policies and Procedures.
• Communicate effectively with residents, staff, and supervisors to ensure smooth operation of activities.
• Escort residents to and from activities as needed.

Requirements

• Knowledge of practical application of Life Enrichment skills such as creative expression, music, group leadership, and crafts.
• Ability to communicate in English and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Good interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
• Minimum of one year of experience working with seniors in a recreational or social setting preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• Activity Professional Certification or higher preferred, but not required.
