The Activities Assistant at Cloverdale Rehabilitation and Nursing Center plays a vital role in enhancing the lives of residents through engaging and therapeutic activities. This position focuses on planning, facilitating, and documenting various recreational programs that promote socialization, cognitive stimulation, and overall well-being among residents. The role requires creativity, enthusiasm, and a passion for making each day meaningful for those in care.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the development and implementation of creative and engaging activity programs tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
  • Leading group activities such as arts and crafts, games, exercise classes, music therapy sessions, and educational workshops.
  • Providing one-on-one support and encouragement to residents who may need extra assistance or personalized activities.
  • Assisting with the setup, cleanup, and coordination of activities, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all participants.
  • Documenting residents' participation and responses to activities, as well as any observations or concerns, to support individualized care planning.
  • Collaborating with other staff members, including recreational therapists, social workers, and healthcare professionals, to integrate activities into residents' overall care plans.
  • Participating in training programs and continuing education opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in activity planning and resident engagement.

Requirements

  • Experience in planning and facilitating activities for seniors or similar populations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with residents and staff effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Creativity and enthusiasm for developing engaging activities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in a healthcare or rehabilitation setting.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic recreation practices.
