About the position

The Activities Assistant at Life Care Centers of America plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in a post-acute care facility. This position involves planning, developing, and implementing engaging activity programs that cater to the physical, emotional, and social needs of patients. The assistant will work closely with an interdisciplinary team to ensure that all activities are conducted safely and effectively, while also maintaining a positive and supportive environment for the residents.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating quality activity programs including entertainment, exercise, relaxation, and education.
  • Appropriately and descriptively chart patient progress and behavior.
  • Escort patients to and from activities.
  • Make regular in-room visits to patients uninterested or unable to participate in group activities.
  • Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients.
  • Assist in the evacuation of patients.
  • Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance.
  • Concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment.
  • Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Prior experience with geriatrics preferred.
  • Valid driver's license in current State with satisfactory driving record per Life Care standards.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in arts/crafts/music is preferred.
  • Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in the post-acute care facility.
  • Ability to implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department.
  • Perform proficiently in all competency areas including but not limited to: patient rights, and safety and sanitation.
  • Maintain professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
  • Understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures.
  • Display integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care's Code of Conduct and complete mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training.
