About the position

The Activities Assistant plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in a long-term care facility by planning and conducting various activities. This position involves collaboration with staff, residents, and families to ensure that the needs and interests of the residents are met through engaging and meaningful activities.

Responsibilities

• Participate in planning and conducting individual, small, and large group activities.
• Assist in providing good communication between employees, residents, families, and support personnel.
• Participate in community planning related to the interests of the facility and residents.
• Assist in the development of a monthly activity calendar and maintain attendance records.
• Support the Quality Assurance and Assessment Committee in developing and implementing action plans for quality deficiencies.
• Participate in discharge planning and development of activity care plans and resident assessments.
• Assist in arranging transportation for residents for outings and appointments.
• Encourage residents to engage in self-initiated activities and provide necessary materials.
• Assist with assessment documentation and quarterly progress notes as assigned.
• Keep the Activity Department clean, orderly, and secured.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferably one year of experience in a long-term care facility.
• Ability to read technical procedures and comprehend policy manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
• Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.
• Ability to solve practical problems and interpret various instructions.
