About the position

The Maryville R-II School District is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Track Coach for our Middle School program. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about athletics and have a strong desire to mentor young athletes. The Assistant Track Coach will work closely with the Head Coach to develop and implement training programs, assist in organizing practices, and provide guidance to student-athletes in their development both on and off the track. The role requires a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team environment, where all athletes feel valued and motivated to improve their skills. In this position, the Assistant Track Coach will be responsible for supporting the Head Coach in all aspects of the track and field program. This includes planning and conducting practices, teaching proper techniques, and ensuring the safety of all participants. The coach will also assist in preparing athletes for competitions, including organizing travel arrangements and managing meet logistics. Building strong relationships with athletes, parents, and school staff is essential to promote a successful and cohesive program. The ideal candidate will have a background in athletics, preferably with experience in track and field. A strong understanding of the sport, along with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes, is crucial. The Assistant Track Coach will also be expected to uphold the values of sportsmanship and integrity, serving as a role model for student-athletes. Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting track practices.

Requirements

  • Background in athletics, preferably in track and field.
  • Experience coaching or working with middle school-aged students is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of track and field techniques and strategies.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous coaching experience at the middle school or high school level.
  • Knowledge of sports safety and first aid procedures.
