About the position

The Activities Therapy Coordinator (ATC) at Columbus Springs East plays a crucial role in developing and implementing therapeutic activities for patients undergoing treatment for mental health and substance use disorders. This position is integral to the interdisciplinary team, focusing on enhancing patient care through recreational and activity services, thereby fostering interpersonal relationships and social skills among patients. The ATC is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing medically approved recreation programs tailored to the needs and interests of patients, ensuring alignment with their treatment plans.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Clinical Services in developing therapeutic activity programs for patients.
• Serve as a member of the interdisciplinary team to provide recreational and activity services to hospitalized patients.
• Plan, organize, and direct medically approved recreation programs, including sports, dramatics, games, and arts and crafts.
• Regulate program content based on patients' capabilities, needs, interests, and treatment plans.
• Assist in scheduling and managing Activities Therapy (AT) and Activities Therapy Assistant (ATA) staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy, Music Therapy, Art Therapy, or a similar field from an accredited institution.
• Current unencumbered certification/license/registration preferred.
• CPR and CPI certifications within 30 days of hire.
• Previous experience in a psychiatric healthcare facility, particularly with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric, and geriatric patients preferred.
• Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
