The Activity Aide/Coordinator (Psych Music Teacher) position at West Oaks Hospital is a part-time role focused on delivering engaging music activities to patients in a psychiatric setting. The coordinator will work closely with the treatment team to develop adaptable programs that cater to the diverse backgrounds of patients, ensuring a holistic approach to their care.

Responsibilities

• Deliver fun, creative, and engaging music activities programs that inspire, educate, and empower patients in a behavioral/psychiatric setting.
• Use music to restore, maintain, and improve cognitive, emotional, social, and physiological functioning while assisting in mood regulation.
• Assist the recreation therapy department in hospital-wide special events.
• Work with the treatment team to develop a structured curriculum adaptable to various cultural backgrounds, heritage, and identity of patients.
• Maintain recreational areas and equipment.
• Complete documentation accurately and timely.
• Maintain observation of patients and share appropriate information with the manager.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field preferred.
• CPR certification required.
• One year of experience in program specialty required.
• One year of experience in program specialty in a healthcare environment preferred.
