The position involves assisting in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the activity programs of the facility in accordance with residents' care assessments. The role requires adherence to current federal and state regulations, as well as professional standards of practice, to assist with necessary changes in department policies and procedures. Participation in community planning related to the interests of the facility is essential, involving residents and their families in planning objectives and goals. The position also includes observing resident attendance, mood, behavior, and degree of involvement to chart detailed notes regarding their activity progress. Administrative tasks such as forecasting the department budget and purchasing supplies are also part of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the activity programs of the facility.
  • Abide by current federal and state regulations and professional standards of practice.
  • Participate in community planning related to the interests of the facility.
  • Observe resident attendance, mood, behavior, and degree of involvement.
  • Perform administrative requirements including forecasting the department budget and purchasing supplies.
  • Serve on and participate in various committees and continuing education programs.
  • Assist in developing comprehensive assessments of the activity needs of residents.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information.
  • Implement activity procedures and oversee residents engaged in scheduled activities.
  • Perform other tasks as directed by the Activity Director.

Requirements

  • Minimum of High School Diploma/GED or higher.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
  • Proven ability to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the needs of the residents.
  • Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
