About the position

The Activity Assistant at Richland Bean-Blossom Health Care Center is responsible for planning, developing, organizing, and implementing a variety of activities that cater to the social, emotional, physical, and therapeutic needs of residents. This part-time role involves working closely with residents, their families, and the management team to create individualized activity programs that promote resident engagement and well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Assess residents and design activity programs to meet their functional levels, needs, interests, and choices.
  • Communicate and collaborate with the management team on departmental matters, including budget and resident care.
  • Meet with the census development team to plan and establish goals for activities.
  • Ensure proper documentation of activity assessments and resident participation in clinical records.
  • Perform quality assessment and assurance functions, including serving on committees and conducting compliance rounds.
  • Assist in the development and update of activities policies and procedures.
  • Participate in survey processes and instruct staff on compliance.
  • Manage volunteers, including their recruitment, orientation, and training.
  • Maintain and apply current skills through continuing education and in-service programs.
  • Carry out responsibilities in compliance with laws and facility policies.
  • Assist residents in organizing and developing a residents' council.
  • Read and interpret technical journals and legal documents, and respond to inquiries effectively.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver's License as per position requirements.
  • Experience in communication skills, particularly in a healthcare setting.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with high energy and enthusiasm.
  • Strong organizational skills to document and implement detailed programs.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience in healthcare or rehabilitation services.
