About the position
The Activity Manager at Hampton Manor of Van Buren is responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising a variety of social, educational, recreational, and therapeutic activities for residents. This role aims to enhance the quality of life for residents through engaging programs while also promoting the community to the public. The position requires effective communication, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently while managing a team of volunteers and staff.
Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, and supervise activities for residents based on their interests and skill levels.
- Encourage resident participation in activities through effective communication.
- Organize quarterly seminars or lecture series for residents and their families.
- Assist the Residents Council and participate in their monthly meetings.
- Collaborate with life enrichment coordinators in affiliated retirement communities.
- Develop and distribute a monthly activities calendar and newsletter.
- Drive residents to events and appointments using the community van.
- Interview new residents to understand their backgrounds and preferences.
- Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers and staff for activities.
- Maintain accurate records related to activities and entertainment for residents.
- Handle residents' concerns and complaints professionally.
Requirements
- Mid-level experience in recreational therapy or related field.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Ability to manage conflict and develop care plans.
- Experience in planning and implementing activities for diverse groups.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in budgeting for activities.
- Knowledge of community resources for elderly care.
- Familiarity with local activities planner's associations.
