About the position

The Actuarial Analyst, Experienced will play a crucial role in the Actuarial Pricing team at Blue Shield of California, focusing on forecasting costs and revenues to ensure the company's financial stability. This position involves providing actuarial support for Specialty product lines, including Dental, Vision, and Life, and encompasses various actuarial disciplines such as pricing, claim analysis, and risk assessment.

Responsibilities

• Understand core principles and functionality of decision, descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytic methods including forecasting and statistical techniques.
• Conduct and develop analysis, assess risk and population risk scores, develop pricing and trends, and assess changes in benefit designs.
• Coordinate, prepare, perform, and audit actuarial analyses to assist in the development of complex actuarial formulations leading to pricing recommendations.
• Perform data exploration using statistical programming languages (R, Python, SQL, SAS) and deploy predictive analytics and machine learning techniques.
• Direct, coordinate, and/or develop evaluation and financial reporting standards for internal and external reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with at least a minor in mathematics, statistics, computer science, or equivalent business experience.
• At least 2 years of professional actuarial experience.
• Completion of at least 3 actuarial exams.
