About the position

As an Actuarial Analyst I on the Auto Core Pricing Modernization team at USAA, you will play a crucial role in applying complex actuarial methodologies to support the financial security of U.S. military members and their families. This position requires a near-credentialed analyst who can independently handle unstructured projects, ensuring the quality of data and effectively communicating insights to various stakeholders. You will work remotely with occasional travel, contributing to a mission-driven organization that values integrity, loyalty, and service.

Responsibilities

  • Independently apply complex technical and actuarial methodologies to complete unstructured projects.
  • Select and ensure quality of data used for trend analysis to support rate level indications.
  • Translate business problems into technical requirements and run catastrophe models, interpreting results to support business activities.
  • Utilize actuarial, mathematical, or statistical techniques to enhance actuarial work products.
  • Create and deliver training to teammates on actuarial tools and processes.
  • Apply understanding of products, stakeholders' needs, and industry trends to solve unstructured business problems.
  • Identify compliance gaps and process improvements, recommending and developing solutions.
  • Lead unit initiatives and participate in cross-functional efforts as a technical subject matter expert.
  • Effectively communicate insights and solutions to all audiences, including executive leadership.
  • Synthesize complex information into a clear and influential value proposition.
  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are identified, measured, monitored, and controlled according to risk and compliance policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of related Actuarial/business/analytical experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 4 years of Actuarial or analytical business experience.
  • No more than 2 Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) exams away from Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) Credential and all Validation of Education Experience (VEEs) completed.
  • Demonstrated competency with relevant actuarial, mathematical, and statistical techniques for fact-based decision-making.
  • Intermediate knowledge of data analysis tools, data visualization, and developing analysis queries in Python, R, SQL, SAS, or BI tools.
  • Experience communicating complex solutions and analysis to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
