About the position

The Actuarial Analyst I position at USAA is a full-time role focused on applying complex actuarial methodologies to support the Auto Core Pricing Modernization team. The analyst will work independently on unstructured projects, utilizing their actuarial knowledge and technical skills to analyze data, communicate insights, and enhance business processes. This role is essential in ensuring compliance and risk management while contributing to the financial security of military members and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Independently apply complex technical and actuarial methodologies to complete unstructured projects.
  • Select and ensure quality of data for trend analysis to support rate level indications.
  • Translate business problems into technical requirements and run catastrophe models, interpreting results for business activities.
  • Utilize actuarial, mathematical, or statistical techniques to enhance actuarial work products.
  • Create and deliver training on actuarial tools and processes to teammates.
  • Identify compliance gaps and recommend process improvements.
  • Lead unit initiatives and participate in cross-functional efforts as a technical subject matter expert.
  • Effectively communicate insights and solutions to all audiences, including executive leadership.
  • Synthesize complex information into a clear and influential value proposition.
  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of related Actuarial/business/analytical experience may substitute for a degree.
  • 4 years of Actuarial or analytical business experience.
  • No more than 2 Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) exams away from ACAS Credential and all Validation of Education Experience (VEEs) completed.
  • Demonstrated competency with relevant actuarial, mathematical, and statistical techniques.
  • Intermediate knowledge of data analysis tools and programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, SAS, and BI tools.
  • Experience communicating complex solutions to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
