About the position

The Actuarial Analyst II - Pricing role at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan involves performing routine actuarial analyses using established techniques and procedures. The position focuses on various actuarial areas such as valuations, financial reporting, forecasting, trend analytics, and pricing. The analyst will analyze work for accuracy, develop and enhance procedures, and present findings to team members and leadership while remaining current on actuarial techniques.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine actuarial analyses using acceptable actuarial techniques and procedures.
• Analyze completed work for reasonableness and accuracy, recommending actions based on internal and external impacts.
• Learn and implement programming to maintain analytical programs with limited direction.
• Utilize data management and structure techniques with limited oversight.
• Develop and enhance procedures, ensuring actuarial soundness.
• Conduct experience and financial analysis to identify root causes and propose solutions for actuarial problems.
• Present completed work and implications to team members, internal clients, and leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science or a related area.
• One year of actuarial experience, preferably with BCN/BCBSM or a comparable company.
• At least one course credit towards the FSA designation and membership in good standing in the Actuarial Development Program.
• Knowledge of standard actuarial methods and practices for complex analyses and calculations.
• Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to apply planning and prioritization techniques.
