About the position

The Specialty lines Actuarial Product team is seeking a near ACAS to join our dynamic group and leverage their expertise in Property and Casualty insurance to drive innovation and improvements within the industry. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of our Specialty product offerings, which include Medical, Directors and Officers (D&O), Employment Practices Liability (EPL), and Professional lines. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for producing high-quality results in a timely manner while maintaining a strong customer focus in all your work. In this position, you will lead projects independently that aim to develop enhancements and innovations to actuarial products and procedures for the Specialty lines mentioned above. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with other divisions within ISO to create new products that may be actuarial or underwriting focused. Your actuarial analyses will support, maintain, and enhance existing Specialty actuarial products, making you a key contributor in the effort to modernize our rating infrastructure for both class-rated and specifically rated risks. Utilizing your expertise, you will analyze market, industry, competitor, legal, and regulatory trends to provide actionable insights that drive business success for both the company and its customers. Additionally, you will interact with regulatory authorities to support filings related to loss cost reviews and the introduction of new or enhanced products. This role requires a blend of technical skills, analytical thinking, and strong communication abilities to effectively engage with stakeholders and drive results.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects independently targeting enhancements and innovations to actuarial products and procedures for Specialty lines.
  • Collaborate closely with other ISO divisions on new products that may be actuarial or underwriting focused.
  • Provide actuarial analyses to support, maintain, and enhance existing Specialty actuarial products.
  • Contribute to the development of a modern rating infrastructure for class-rated and specifically rated risks.
  • Analyze market, industry, competitor, legal, and regulatory trends to provide actionable insights.
  • Interact with regulatory authorities to support filings of loss cost reviews and new/enhanced products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or related majors.
  • Near ACAS designation is desired.
  • 2+ years' experience leading teams or projects with a strong record of building customer relationships.
  • Data management skills or knowledge of insurance data management principles is a plus.
  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
  • Familiarity with insurance coverages, actuarial methodologies, and quality control.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications and understanding of computer programming concepts.
  • Knowledge of Python, Jupyter Notebooks, ETL tools, R, SQL, SAS, or Business Rules Engines is a plus.
  • Background experience in Power BI, Tableau, Spotfire, COGNOS, or other data visualization software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with actuarial methodologies and quality control processes.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
