About the position

The Actuarial Analyst III at Elevance Health is responsible for completing diverse and complex actuarial projects, conducting in-depth analyses of risk contracts, and preparing management reports to support new capitation initiatives. This role involves mentoring junior staff and coordinating special actuarial projects, contributing significantly to the company's healthcare strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes and implements risk contracts including conducting experience analyses, pricing, filing and settlement work.
  • Prepares management reports supporting new capitation initiatives.
  • Acts as State Lead Analyst and Support Analyst as assigned.
  • Assists in training of actuarial trainees, analysts, and specialists.
  • Coordinates/directs special actuarial projects.

Requirements

  • Requires a BA/BS and to have passed a minimum of four Society of Actuaries (SOA) actuarial exams.
  • Minimum of 3 years related experience or any combination of education and experience providing an equivalent background.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in complex actuarial analyses, including experience with risk contracts, pricing, and capitation initiatives.
  • Strong ability to create and interpret findings in management reports effectively.
  • Demonstrate capability in project coordination and direction, particularly in actuarial communications.
  • Experience mentoring junior actuarial staff, showcasing leadership and guidance skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Medicaid actuarial field with focus in Pricing and/or Valuation.
