About the position

The Actuarial Analyst III position at Health First is a full-time role located in Brevard County, FL, where the individual will serve as a subject matter expert within the actuarial department. This role encompasses various critical areas including filings, product development, financial valuation and reporting, and population health management. The analyst will be responsible for developing financial models that monitor and project the current and future business landscape, ensuring that the organization remains compliant with appropriate actuarial standards, laws, and regulations. In this position, the analyst will maintain rating models and database support programs that are essential for the actuarial department. This includes updating these models to align with the latest actuarial standards and practices. The role also involves the development and maintenance of models for calculating claims and other reserves, which are crucial for the financial health of the organization. Additionally, the analyst will create management reports that are necessary for the financial management of all products offered by Health First. The Actuarial Analyst III will support the development of required state and federal premium rates and other filings, assisting in the determination of cash reserves, risk funding mechanisms, and budget projections. The individual will be expected to demonstrate expertise in at least one of the key disciplines mentioned, contributing to the overall success of the actuarial team and the organization as a whole.

Responsibilities

  • Develop financial models for monitoring and projecting current and future business.
  • Maintain rating models and database support programs used in the actuarial department, updating them for appropriate actuarial standards of practice, laws, and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain models for the calculation of appropriate claims and other reserves.
  • Develop management reports necessary for the financial management of all products.
  • Support the development of required state and federal premium rates and other filings.
  • Assist in the determination of cash reserves (IBNR), risk funding mechanisms, budget projections, and all other financial modeling including development of provider payment mechanisms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or related field from an accredited college or university with a minimum GPA of 3.4.
  • Passed three actuarial exams.
  • At least 2 years of experience in filings, product development, financial valuation and reporting, or population health management.
  • Strong computer abilities with emphasis on Microsoft Excel, SQL, or other programming languages.
  • Knowledge of laws, government regulations, and agency rules for managed care controls.
  • Strong background in arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • Knowledge of economics and accounting principles and practices, and reporting of financial data.
  • Ability to perform support tasks autonomously for at least one of the specified responsibilities.
