About the position

The Mortgage Reinsurance Analyst will play a crucial role in assessing mortgage-related risks and analyzing credit risk transfer transactions. This position requires minimal supervision and involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure sound underwriting practices. The analyst will be responsible for overseeing reinsurance submissions, modeling prospective deals, and providing strategic insights to Senior Underwriters. Additionally, the role includes reviewing reinsurance contracts and agreements, conducting detailed analyses of the in-force mortgage portfolio, and preparing comprehensive reports and presentations for Senior Management regarding mortgage portfolio performance and potential opportunities. The analyst will also monitor market trends and provide recommendations on exposure management, collaborating with the Investment team to review mortgage-related analyses. This position is essential for contributing to the overall success of the mortgage reinsurance underwriting team.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee reinsurance submissions and model prospective deals to provide strategic insights to Senior Underwriters.
  • Review reinsurance contracts and agreements, analyzing changes to terms.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of the in-force mortgage portfolio to assess risk levels, loss trends, and performance metrics.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations for Senior Management regarding mortgage portfolio performance and potential opportunities.
  • Monitor market trends and provide recommendations on exposure management.
  • Collaborate with the Investment team to review mortgage-related analysis.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Actuarial or a related field.
  • 4+ years of related experience or equivalent level of education and experience.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Proficient in financial modeling and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent understanding of mortgage securitization or mortgage reinsurance structures.
  • Demonstrates considerable knowledge of mortgage underwriting, credit risk transfer, and macroeconomic influences on the housing market.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely, and influence stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in assessing mortgage risk and maintaining large data sets.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively.
