About the position

The Actuarial Analyst (P&C) role is focused on enhancing the Risk Management team by managing and analyzing data, generating reports, and providing insights for risk evaluation related to Portfolio's products. This position involves collaboration with the Risk Management team to assist in actuarial functions such as trending, modeling simulations, and projections, while also conducting detailed analyses of industry trends for proactive rate management. The role is remote, with potential travel to the company's offices in Texas and Ohio.

Responsibilities

  • Manage specific internal and external client requests via SQL or Power BI to provide requested reporting on trends, exposure, comparisons, and rate recommendations.
  • Work with the field to enhance existing canned reports and data cubes as desired.
  • Query data and provide initial recommendations for recurring reviews summarizing risk exposure by product, reinsurance company, dealership, etc.
  • Prepare documentation by product, reinsurance company, dealership, etc. that supports reserve changes.
  • Supply Sales with additional documentation as needed.
  • Assist in the audits of claims to validate adjudication is adhering to contract underwriting guidelines.
  • Prepare reserve and coverage comparisons between our programs and those of our competitors and supply a thorough report of the results.
  • Create reports and dashboards using Power BI to assist the team in meeting their goals.
  • Assist in actuarial reviews for internal domestic captives as well as for the company-wide audit.
  • Provide consultative actuarial support to the Director of Risk Management and Risk Analyst as requested to mitigate risk on the company's portfolio and establish appropriate actuarial justified reserves for new and existing programs.
  • Create reports and presentations for executives, managing directors, agents, and dealerships that summarize a plan to mitigate their risk.
  • Cross-train on the development of rate cards, management of watchlist, and tracking of reserve increases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field.
  • 3 years of experience as an actuarial analyst, or related experience.
  • Successful completion of 3 or more CAS actuarial exams and a commitment to achieving ACAS.
  • Proficient in Excel and SQL.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and apply actuarial judgment.
  • Knowledge of Automotive Finance & Insurance products.
  • Organized with attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle multiple interruptions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in the Automotive Finance & Insurance industry.
  • Proficiency with R programming language.
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or any other business intelligence tool.
