About the position

The Actuarial Analyst is responsible for providing actuarial and pricing analyses to Prime's existing and potential clients. This role will utilize and develop innovative actuarial modeling concepts to strategically assist with trend analysis, benefit design, and pricing support across all of Prime's lines of business, including commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid. The position requires a strong analytical mindset and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to ensure that the actuarial work aligns with industry standards and meets client needs. In this role, the Actuarial Analyst will build, support, and maintain financial and actuarial models that are crucial for decision-making processes. The analyst will perform and review data analyses, reporting, and projections, ensuring accuracy and relevance in the findings. Additionally, the analyst will engage in ad hoc pharmacy data mining and analyses to address complex questions related to actuarial data and concepts, providing insights that can influence strategic decisions. The Actuarial Analyst will also assist in the development of client presentations, collaborating closely with underwriters and other departments within Prime, as well as senior management, on pricing initiatives and the Request for Proposal (RFP) process. It is essential that the work produced is consistent with applicable actuarial standards, and the analyst may be assigned other duties as needed to support the team and the organization’s goals.

Responsibilities

  • Build, support, and maintain financial and actuarial models
  • Perform and review data analyses, reporting, and projections

  • Assist with development of client presentations

  • Ensure work is consistent with actuarial standards

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Math, Actuarial Science, Economics or Finance
  • 2 years of work experience in actuarial services, underwriting, or analytics
  • 3 actuarial exams passed
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without need for work visa or residency sponsorship
  • Advanced level of proficiency in Excel; proficient in SAS, SQL, or VBA
  • Excellent quantitative, problem solving, and analytical skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to balance and follow-up on multiple projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Nice-to-haves

  • 2 years of actuarial work experience in a healthcare organization or PBM
  • Previous experience pricing Commercial, Medicare or Medicaid lines of businesses
  • 1 year of experience in SAS, SQL, or VBA
  • Previous experience presenting results
