About the position

The Actuarial Analyst is a pivotal role within Prime Therapeutics, responsible for delivering comprehensive actuarial and pricing analyses to both existing and prospective clients. This position is integral to the organization as it employs innovative actuarial modeling techniques to strategically support various aspects of the business, including trend analysis, benefit design, and pricing strategies across all lines of business, which encompass commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid sectors. The Actuarial Analyst will be expected to build, support, and maintain robust financial and actuarial models that are essential for informed decision-making and effective client engagement. In this role, the analyst will perform and review extensive data analyses, reporting, and projections, ensuring that all outputs are accurate and actionable. A significant part of the job involves conducting ad hoc pharmacy data mining and analyses, which are crucial for addressing complex questions related to actuarial data and concepts. The Actuarial Analyst will also assist in the development of client presentations, collaborating closely with underwriters, other departments within Prime, and senior management to drive pricing initiatives and support the Request for Proposal (RFP) process. It is essential that all work adheres to applicable actuarial standards, ensuring the integrity and reliability of the analyses provided. The position may also involve other duties as assigned, reflecting the dynamic nature of the healthcare industry and the need for adaptability in the role. The Actuarial Analyst will play a key role in helping Prime Therapeutics maintain its commitment to providing high-quality care and service to its members, ultimately contributing to the organization's mission of helping people get the medicine they need to feel better and live well.

Responsibilities

  • Build, support, and maintain financial and actuarial models
  • Perform and review data analyses, reporting, and projections
  • Perform and review ad hoc pharmacy data mining and analyses to help investigate and answer challenging questions regarding actuarial data and concepts
  • Assist with development of client presentations
  • Collaborate with underwriters, other areas of Prime, and senior management on pricing initiatives, data analyses, and the RFP process
  • Ensure work is consistent with actuarial standards, as applicable
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Math, Actuarial Science, Economics or Finance
  • 2 years of work experience in actuarial services, underwriting, or analytics
  • 3 actuarial exams passed
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without need for work visa or residency sponsorship
  • Advanced level of proficiency in Excel; proficient in SAS, SQL, or VBA
  • Excellent quantitative, problem solving, and analytical skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to balance and follow-up on multiple projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Nice-to-haves

  • 2 years of actuarial work experience in a healthcare organization or PBM
  • Previous experience pricing Commercial, Medicare or Medicaid lines of businesses
  • 1 year of experience in SAS, SQL, or VBA
  • Previous experience presenting results
