Additionally, the role involves peer reviewing client deliverables for accuracy and reasonableness before submission. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related analytical field. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential, along with the ability to read and interpret legal documents related to pension law. The position requires proficiency in basic computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office products, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Request and reconcile Participant Census and Trust Assets for defined benefit and cash balance retirement plans.
  • Review plan documents and compliance review plan notes completed by the Benefit Calculation Analyst based upon plan provisions.
  • Process pension benefit calculations and support participant call center and other communications.
  • Coordinate participant census and asset requests for the completion of defined benefit plan valuation projects for clients.
  • Balance assets and analyze trust statements for specific income and disbursement items.
  • Reconcile participant census and process payroll information in accordance with plan provisions.
  • Complete pension benefit calculations for the estimate, certification, and distribution of participant pension benefits.
  • Field participant inquiries through Defined Benefit Participant Call Center.
  • Support defined benefit participant web access and password resets.
  • Generate Form 5500 information for participant counts, coverage information, and asset information.
  • Process plan terminations, notices of plan benefits, distributions and applicable filings.
  • Support special retirement consulting projects as needed.
  • Read and comprehend plan documents with an emphasis on benefit provisions.
  • Organize work in accordance with department procedures and standards.
  • Peer review client deliverables completed by other teammates for reasonableness and accuracy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance, Computer Science, Statistics, or other analytical field or equivalent education and related training.
  • Ability to read and interpret legal documents pertinent to pension law and regulations.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Analytically oriented with strong math and logic skills.
  • Attentiveness to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work independently and on a team.
  • Demonstrated proficiency of basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office products.

Nice-to-haves

  • Five or more years of experience in Defined Benefits Administration.
  • Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA) with American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA), Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS), completion of two exams with the Society of Actuaries, or other relevant professional designation.
  • Call Center experience.
