About the position

The Actuarial Analyst role at University Hospitals in Shaker Heights, Ohio, is a hybrid position focused on overseeing and executing data science and actuarial projects aimed at enhancing population health and operational effectiveness. The successful candidate will be responsible for integrating data into marts, developing predictive models, and automating reports while continuously presenting and reassessing results. This role requires leading and supporting cross-disciplinary teams to identify and implement analytic strategies that improve value-based reimbursements for the organization. In this position, the analyst will lead requirements gathering sessions with clinical and business stakeholders to shape analytic plans that align with the organization's goals. The analyst will co-create and manage advanced analytics techniques that enhance data-driven interventions, develop and implement predictive models specifically for value-based contracting and population health, and design engaging data visualizations for end-users. The role also involves utilizing diverse data sources, including electronic health records (EHR), claims, scheduling, and social determinants of health, to support clinical and operational objectives. Additionally, the analyst will assess new data sources and gathering methods for their effectiveness, monitor and evaluate performance metrics related to value-based programs, and maintain actuarial standards while working towards obtaining professional credentials. Responsibilities

  • Lead requirements gathering with clinical and business stakeholders to shape analytic plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience with complex analytics, health insurance, or health claims data.
  • Proficiency in SQL and complex queries.
  • Experience with at least one advanced programming language (e.g., Python, R).
  • Strong decision-making and communication skills.
  • Skilled in turning questions into hypotheses, extracting data, and creating statistical models.
  • Experience in gathering and validating requirements, evaluating analytic approaches, and managing project timelines.
  • Working knowledge of emerging technology platforms.
  • Progress towards Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation.
  • Experience with healthcare claims data.
