About the position

Our Actuarial Office is currently seeking two Actuarial Analysts to join our team and drive our CalPERS mission. Under direction of the Actuary Analyst Supervisor, the Actuarial Analyst (AA) will perform entry level actuarial calculations and assignments in the Valuation Support Services Unit within the Actuarial Office of the California Public Retirement System (CalPERS). The AA will be taking a subordinate role in the quadrennial Experience Study and will be expected to become proficient in developing a decrement probability curve study. The AA will be expected to work on the annual valuations following training and mentorship with little to no oversight.

Responsibilities

• Perform entry level actuarial calculations and assignments.
• Assist in the quadrennial Experience Study.
• Develop a decrement probability curve study.
• Work on annual valuations with minimal oversight after training.

Requirements

• Must meet the Minimum Qualifications listed on the Classification Specification.
• Education and experience related to actuarial work.
• Successful completion of qualifying exams for SOA, CAS, or CIA is preferred.
• Statistics or probability coursework in educational background.

Nice-to-haves

• Working knowledge and skill in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and Access.
• Experience performing actuarial work.
