About the position

The Actuarial Analyst position at HealthPartners is a full-time remote role focused on providing actuarial analysis and technical support for various health insurance products and markets. The analyst will engage in pricing and trend analyses, maintain spreadsheet models, assist with data sets, and support the actuarial process for rate filings. This role requires effective communication and analytical skills to prepare reports and summaries for diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Perform pricing and trend analyses and experience studies with a low to moderate level of complexity.
  • Maintain and assist with creating spreadsheet models for financial projections, reimbursement analyses, premium development, and pricing of new products.
  • Maintain and assist with creating data sets and data reports for various projects and models.
  • Support and assist in the actuarial process of rate filings with the Minnesota Department of Health and other regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare reports and project summaries for customers at various levels of technical understanding.
  • Provide actuarial and technical support to other departments.
  • Participate in coordination of small to mid-sized projects and market lines, providing analysis and representing HealthPartners at meetings with regulatory agencies or small to mid-sized employer groups.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to accomplish departmental goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Business, or related field.
  • Has passed at least one Society of Actuaries exam.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel.
  • Good organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Has passed two or more Society of Actuaries exams.
  • SAS and Access programming experience.
  • Two years actuarial experience, preferably in the health insurance/managed care industry.
