About the position

The Actuarial Lead Analyst - Medicare role at Cigna Healthcare involves performing actuarial analyses for the Medicare Advantage business. This includes medical expense analyses, financial forecasts, and the development of Medicare Part C bids. The position requires strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate results effectively to management and associates, while also participating in team meetings and presenting findings to various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Perform actuarial analyses for Medicare Advantage business, including medical expense analyses and projections.
  • Develop financial forecasts and Medicare Part C bid documentation.
  • Support cross-market review of bids and update supporting forecasting and analyses.
  • Apply analytical methods using mathematical and statistical models in bid modeling and financial analyses.
  • Complete ad hoc assessments and projects for corporate-wide or market-specific initiatives.
  • Communicate results of analyses to senior actuarial team members.
  • Participate in team meetings and present on specific topics.
  • Own the methodology and development of actuarial assumptions used in bid pricing.
  • Present results to a variety of matrix partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Economics, Mathematics, or related field strongly preferred.
  • 3+ years of actuarial/data analytics experience.
  • Actively progressing through Society of Actuaries exams strongly preferred.
  • Strong technical skills specifically in Excel.
  • Strong mathematical, financial, and statistical skills.
  • Detail-oriented and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; written/verbal proficiency.
  • Ability to identify problem areas and implement solutions.
  • Healthcare/Medicare bid experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in SQL preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with healthcare data analytics.
  • Familiarity with regulatory (CMS) filings.
