About the position

The Actuarial Manager position at SelectHealth involves providing actuarial expertise to ensure the financial soundness of the organization. This role is responsible for overseeing the calculation and management of financial statement reserves, actuarial forecasting models, and the budgeting process. The Actuarial Manager will coordinate with various financial leaders and teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and analysis, while also supervising a team of actuaries and analysts. The position can be performed remotely with occasional travel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the calculation and management of financial statement reserves and other actuarial liabilities.
  • Coordinate with the CFO, Controller, and other executives to ensure timely completion of financial activities.
  • Supervise and oversee the activities of actuaries, actuarial analysts, and financial analysts.
  • Direct the development and monitoring of the operating and capital budgets for SelectHealth.
  • Provide actuarial input and support for internal and external audits and reporting.
  • Prepare periodic financial reports for the Board and Finance Committee.
  • Perform various analyses to guide strategic decisions regarding budgets and financial projections.

Requirements

  • Expertise in actuarial principles and financial analysis.
  • Experience in managing financial statement reserves and actuarial liabilities.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting processes and financial reporting.
  • Ability to coordinate with executive teams and manage relationships with various stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in healthcare finance or insurance sectors.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to actuarial practices.
