About the position

The Actuarial Manager at Intermountain Wood Products is responsible for providing actuarial expertise to ensure the financial soundness of SelectHealth and Intermountain. This role involves overseeing the calculation and management of financial statement reserves, actuarial forecasting models, and the budgeting process, while also contributing to in-depth financial analysis. The position requires coordination with various financial leaders and is regarded as an expert in financial analysis, ensuring accurate and timely completion of all financial activities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the calculation and management of financial statement reserves and other actuarial liabilities.
  • Direct the development and monitoring of the operating and capital budgets for SelectHealth.
  • Provide actuarial input and support for internal and external audits and reporting.
  • Perform valuation actuary functions for SelectHealth.
  • Prepare periodic financial reports for the Board and Finance Committee.
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor other professionals involved in actuarial analysis and financial reporting processes.
  • Develop and support the strategic planning process related to finance.
  • Ensure appropriate actuarial data is reflected in financial statements and projections.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries or Associate with 15+ years of relevant actuarial experience.
  • Eight or more years of relevant actuarial and business experience including risk analysis and supervisory experience.
  • Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
  • Excellent analytical skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Accounting.
  • CPA certification.
  • Working knowledge of Intermountain information systems and financial processes.
  • Database knowledge.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities in a team environment.
  • Prior direct supervisory or managerial experience.
