About the position

The Actuarial or Financial Analyst will join the Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) team, playing a crucial role in overseeing ancillary annuity products, supporting actuarial functions, and enhancing pricing models. This position involves collaboration with various business partners and communicating financial results to senior leadership, contributing to the overall mission of making financial security accessible to all.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of ancillary annuity products from a pricing, illustration, and product development perspective.
  • Provide support for actuarial function and key initiatives of Principal Financial Services Bermuda.
  • Coding PRT pricing model enhancements and supporting Individual Case pricing initiatives.
  • Developing data and analytics work related to assumptions.
  • Collaborating with multiple business partners and communicating financial results to senior leadership and key partners across the Principal enterprise.
  • Assist in various product initiatives and enhancements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in math, actuarial science, finance or related field.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience, pricing or coding experience preferred, or successful completion of at least four courses in the education system of the Society of Actuaries.
  • A strong foundation in understanding actuarial concepts such as life contingencies, interest theory, and/or GAAP and STAT accounting.
  • Skill in R programming language (or similar - i.e. Python - with the ability to quickly learn R).
  • Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving, leadership, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills required.
  • Demonstrates the ability to embrace and understand the change process, and effectively guides others through change.
  • Knowledge of Excel and VBA required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Defined Benefit plans/valuation or PRT pricing (or similar products) strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of SQL/Relational Databases and SAS programming preferred.
