About the position

This role is part of American Family's Actuarial Tools & Modeling team, which supports various personal and commercial lines, including property, auto, specialty, and other commercial product areas. The team is responsible for developing and operationalizing modeling frameworks, advanced pricing platforms, actuarial methodologies, and processes to support pricing teams. The position involves designing and developing new processes and tools, maintaining the pricing platform, and analyzing the impacts of rate plan changes using actuarial concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain, and improve existing data parsing scripts.
  • Complete and enhance data validation processes to deliver pricing datasets.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on data efforts, including dataset development and consultation with pricing teams.
  • Contribute to recommendations and revisions to ratemaking methodologies.
  • Explore new actuarial concepts, statistical models, and data sources to deliver innovative solutions.
  • Assist with the development and analysis of pricing impacts for new products and rating structures.
  • Assist with the development of classification ratemaking methodologies and models.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively.
  • Coding proficiency in SQL, R, Python, VBA, or other related languages.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of at least one personal or commercial property and casualty product, pricing, rates, and industry trends.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of underwriting guidelines and concepts.
  • Demonstrated experience performing statistical/actuarial analysis and data forecasting and modeling techniques.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of forecasting and statistical analysis and modeling.
  • Pursuing Associate or Fellow in Casualty Actuary Society (ACAS or FCAS) with at least 2 CAS/SOA exams completed.
