Great American's Corporate Actuarial Division is integral to managing financial risks and ensuring the company's long-term financial stability. This shared service comprises two specialized teams: Pricing and Reserving. The Pricing Team is tasked with projecting future loss activity and assessing whether prospective rate levels will adequately cover all costs associated with risk transfer. The Reserving Team is responsible for establishing Incurred But Not Reported (IBNR) reserves and estimating the outstanding losses for past exposure periods. Together, these teams ensure that Great American maintains robust financial health and compliance with industry standards. The Corporate Actuarial Division is looking for an Actuarial Research Analyst to join the Reserving team. This position will be based out of the office in Cincinnati, OH on a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strong quantitative support for financial forecasts, rating, reserving, rating regulatory filings and ad hoc requests.
  • Coordinate actuarial research, perform systems updates, and develop new reports and output files.
  • Analyze and review reserves for existing products or business units.
  • Assemble materials for and conduct quarterly meetings with business unit management.
  • Provide input to accounting for recording loss and expense reserves in financial statements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Generally, 3 to 10+ years of related experience.
  • P&C Insurance experience is preferred.
  • May have one or two exams, but not actively pursuing exams.
  • Typically, does not have and is not pursuing an actuarial designation.
  • Strong skills in Excel.
