About the position

Milliman's Seattle Health Practice is seeking an FSA with extensive experience in health actuarial work. The role involves leading a team of consultants, performing healthcare data analysis, and managing projects while ensuring client satisfaction. The position emphasizes the importance of effective communication and organizational skills, along with a strong understanding of the US healthcare system.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis of healthcare data
  • Write reports that explain technical concepts clearly to a non-technical audience
  • Manage projects through completion within an expected budget
  • Supervise actuarial students and less-experienced actuaries in the completion of technical aspects of actuarial projects
  • Develop the ability to manage client relationships and generate new business with both new and existing clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field
  • FSA designation
  • Seven to ten years of healthcare actuarial experience
  • Proficiency with Excel
  • Strong understanding of the US healthcare system
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work both independently and in team environments
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment where client satisfaction is key

Nice-to-haves

  • Meaningful experience in Medicaid rate-setting
  • Experience with reserving and year-end statutory financials
  • Knowledge of ACA pricing/rate filing
  • Experience with Medicare Advantage, especially bid development
  • Understanding of value-based provider contracting
  • Some knowledge of SAS, SQL, or R
