About The Position

The Actuary, Life Qualified Actuary Team role at Lincoln Financial Group involves serving as a subject matter expert in life valuation, focusing on quarterly results, annual assumption updates, and new product implementations for both GAAP and Statutory reporting. The position is critical in producing the annual VM-31 report and requires collaboration with various teams to ensure effective pricing and modeling methodologies.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Life product knowledge and general insurance business knowledge
  • 5+ years of actuarial experience, including valuation experience
  • FSA preferred; ASA required

Nice To Haves

  • VM-20 experience for ULSG and/or Term products
  • GAAP LDTI experience, specifically with Trad LFPB
  • GAAP SOP03-1 experience, specifically with ULSG
  • Prior experience with actuarial modeling software, preferably MG-ALFA

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary reviewer for a product segment analyzing quarterly valuation results for both GAAP and Statutory reporting.
  • Improve analysis efficiency and provide insight to meet the elevated focus on statutory financial results.
  • Communicate and influence across the organization by sharing insights and analysis of valuation GAAP and Statutory results with multiple levels of management.
  • Serve as an assumption subgroup member during the annual unlocking process, contributing to the setting of assumptions and compiling documentation.
  • Develop expertise in regulatory requirements for assumptions to support efforts to define assumption parameters appropriate for both GAAP and VM-20 statutory reporting.
  • Support new product pricing working groups and provide guidance on appropriate assumption and modeling methodologies from a valuation perspective throughout the pricing process.
  • Provide guidance on appropriate assumptions and modeling methodologies to the new product implementation team.
  • Expand and maintain validation tools such as external spreadsheets used to review model results.
  • Assist in developing and executing model review controls and governance structures.
  • Embrace a continuous improvement mindset to assess and improve analysis tools, processes, and modeling methods and assumptions.
  • Collaborate across the organization to support strong relationships with Life Valuation and Modeling, Life Pricing, Life Model Governance, Corporate Actuarial, and others.
