About the position

The Actuary, Quantitative Model Developer/Researcher at Equitable is a creative and detail-oriented role focused on designing and implementing advanced actuarial and quantitative models to support the company's hedging program. This position requires a strong background in financial engineering, programming, and actuarial science, and involves collaboration across various teams to enhance productivity and model robustness.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and maintain hedging models for hedging operations and hedge strategy.
  • Lead the development of tools and platform enhancements to bolster productivity through innovative system-building and automation.
  • Leverage knowledge of high-performance computing to speed up the production of results and systematically search for improved model robustness.
  • Craft documentation for analysis, reporting, internal control, and external auditing purposes.
  • Recommend changes and continuous improvement, providing supporting analysis for the recommendations; contribute to proposals of innovative hedging strategies for VA guarantees.
  • Contribute and often lead on team's initiatives aimed at derivatives/market modeling, analytical research, and infrastructure/process development.
  • Actively participate as a key member of the cross-functional team on asset-liability management and strategic projects.
  • Lead in actuarial hedging and liability valuation using actuarial software and reporting tools.
  • Monitor P&L attribution and performance measurement and hedge effectiveness.
  • Collaborate across different functional teams and work effectively with internal controls and external auditors/regulators.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, and/or Physics.
  • 5+ years of experience in programming/modeling.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree
  • FSA designation
  • 5+ years relevant experience ideally within Hedging, Variable Annuity products, Model Development, Quantitative Research or related function
  • Hands-on experience with coding - ideally utilizing C/C++, Python and/or MATLAB
  • Established analytical and technical skills.
