Responsibilities

  • Serve as OWCP actuarial expert and advisor to leadership team.
  • Prepare actuarial estimates and analyses related to workers' compensation programs.
  • Analyze complex actuarial problems concerning OWCP's benefits funds.
  • Conduct research to obtain up-to-date social, economic, and demographic data.
  • Analyze data for anomalies and provide recommendations regarding data validity and methodologies.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of software applications and tools.
  • Work with other OWCP technical experts to ensure actuarial models are reasonable.
  • Provide recommendations for OWCP's annual liability estimates.
  • Represent OWCP in discussions regarding the liability of its benefits funds.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, business, finance, economics, insurance, or computer science with at least 24 semester hours, including 12 hours of mathematics (differential and integral calculus).
  • One year of actuarial experience equivalent to GS-13 level for GS-14 applicants.
  • One year of actuarial experience equivalent to GS-14 level for GS-15 applicants.
  • Specialized experience in applying actuarial, statistical, and mathematical methodologies.
