About the position

The AD IT Data Governance role at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation focuses on implementing and governing data controls within the Information Technology department. The position aims to ensure compliance with the Bank's data governance requirements, emphasizing data quality, lineage, retention, and issue management. The candidate will work closely with IT Data Owners and other stakeholders to identify key data elements, capture metadata, and develop data quality rules, while also overseeing the overall IT controls program.

Responsibilities

  • Work with IT Data Owners to identify reports produced for regulatory and management purposes.
  • Participate with Data Owners and Data Stewards to identify Key Data Elements (KDEs) using the Data Governance Framework.
  • Capture business and technical metadata for identified KDEs.
  • Conduct data profiling activities on KDEs and define Data Quality Controls business requirements.
  • Analyze Data Quality issues, capture issue metadata, and log into Data Quality Issue Management (DQIM).
  • Ensure timely and accurate responses to requests from the Chief Data Officer (CDO) and the Enterprise Data Governance Committee (EDGC).
  • Collaborate with the Data Architecture team to attribute KDEs in the logical model and develop physical data structures.
  • Confirm IT data compliance with the firm's Record Retention policy.
  • Provide support and expertise to other AD IT Controls streams of work.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience in data governance, including data definition creation and data quality rule creation.
  • Experience interfacing with Internal Audit and external stakeholders, such as US regulators.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Familiarity with data management tools like DQIM, Collibra, and Denodo.
  • Understanding of Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs).
  • Experience in executing control testing, reporting, and tracking control remediation.
  • Ability to influence responsible parties regarding data controls requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with data issue management and root cause identification.
