About the position

The Georgetown Climate Center (GCC) is seeking a Fellow for its Adaptation Program, aimed at JD Class of 2025 candidates. This one-year position will involve supporting various projects that analyze and identify best practices for state and local governments in preparing for climate change impacts. The Fellow will engage in research, legal and policy analysis, and writing to assist in developing climate-informed policies and planning processes, while also contributing to GCC's online resources and toolkits.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and legal analysis related to climate change adaptation.
  • Support outreach and engagement efforts with state and local government practitioners.
  • Assist in organizing and facilitating special events and projects.
  • Engage with students and coordinate student involvement in projects.

Requirements

  • JD Class of 2025 from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Strong research, writing, and editing skills.
  • Demonstrated interest in climate change, energy, or environmental law.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience working with state or federal governments or nonprofits on climate change, energy, or environmental law or policy.
