About the position
The Addiction Counselor at Gateway Foundation plays a crucial role in providing clinical services to individuals with substance use and mental health disorders, particularly within correctional healthcare settings. This position involves conducting comprehensive assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and delivering both individual and group counseling. The counselor will also document treatment progress and perform case management to ensure effective client care.
Responsibilities
- Completes comprehensive assessments of clients' substance abuse history and treatment requirements, and develops individualized treatment plans.
- Provides individual and group counseling and may facilitate didactic groups.
- Documents treatment and discharge plans, and clients' progress and responses to treatment; maintains related records and charts.
- Performs case management and contributes to client care monitoring.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field, or
- High school/GED with 4 years of behavioral health experience and a MADAC or higher level credential, or
- Associates degree and a MADAC or higher level credential.
- Must be able to obtain Missouri Department of Corrections clearance.
