About the position

The Addictions Program Specialist 1 (NY HELPS) will play a crucial role in the Division of Addiction Treatment and Recovery, focusing on the implementation of integrated care services and enhancing the capacity of treatment services across the state. This position involves collaboration with various stakeholders to promote harm reduction efforts and ensure quality care metrics are tracked for specialty populations.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of integrated care services such as Crisis Stabilization Centers and Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics.
  • Assist with the assessment and capacity building for regional treatment services throughout the State.
  • Participate in intra- and inter-agency work groups, including the NYS Trauma Champions Collaborative.
  • Track quality-of-care metrics for programs serving the Bureau's specialty populations in partnership with other Bureau and Division staff.
  • Work collaboratively with Regional Office Program Managers on provider concerns.
  • Support the implementation and sustainability of projects funded with federal dollars and Opioid Settlement Funds by tracking spending, managing monthly reports, providing technical assistance, and facilitating learning collaboratives.
  • Assist with promoting harm reduction efforts in the treatment system in collaboration with the Harm Reduction Division.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Permanent status as an Addictions Program Specialist 1 (G-18) and interested in reassignment.
  • Reachable for permanent appointment on the current Civil Service eligible lists for Addictions Program Specialist 1, G-18, or Addictions Program Specialist Trainee.
  • A bachelor's degree or higher is required for Trainee 1.
  • A bachelor's degree and one year of professional clinical or administrative experience in a relevant agency or program for Trainee 2.
  • A bachelor's degree and two years of professional clinical or administrative experience in a relevant agency or program for Grade 18.
  • A master's degree may substitute for one year of professional experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in OASAS Certified programs with a strong clinical background in addiction services.
