About the position

The Addictions Therapist at the West Philadelphia Community Mental Health Consortium is responsible for providing drug and alcohol treatment and case management services to individuals with addiction and co-occurring disorders. This role involves conducting diagnostic evaluations, developing treatment plans, and delivering individual and group therapy sessions using evidence-based therapeutic techniques. The therapist will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to monitor client progress and provide crisis intervention as needed, while staying updated on current research and best practices in behavioral health.

Responsibilities

  • Provide drug and alcohol treatment and case management services to individuals with addiction and/or co-occurring disorders.
  • Conduct diagnostic evaluations and assessments to determine appropriate treatment plans.
  • Provide individual and group therapy sessions to clients.
  • Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and psychotherapy.
  • Assist clients in developing coping skills and strategies for managing mental health conditions.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Monitor and evaluate client progress through data collection and outcome measures.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support as needed.
  • Stay up to date on current research and best practices in the field of behavioral health.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Addictions Counseling, Psychology, or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • 2 years of paid-related experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid license or certification as a therapist (e.g., LPC, LMFT, LCSW).
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and overall computer skills, including the use of Electronic Medical Records.
  • Knowledge of Managed Care.
  • Experience working with individuals with mental health disorders, trauma, or substance abuse.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic evaluation and assessment tools (e.g., DSM-5, ICD-10).
  • Proficiency in conducting individual and group counseling sessions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
