About the position

The Additive Manufacturing Design Engineer at Schneider Electric is responsible for utilizing additive manufacturing technology to design mechanical and electrical parts that meet or exceed design specifications. This role involves developing 3D models for printing, collaborating with product squads, and supporting the integration of additive manufacturing within the organization. The engineer will also maintain knowledge of applicable codes and regulations while ensuring designs are manufacturable and meet customer requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product squads to support product development projects with AM design work.
  • Create 3D models for printing of parts and support the execution with lab resources.
  • Support the development and delivery of training materials for internal design teams to support Additive Manufacturing integration.
  • Share best practices across Hubs.
  • Perform analysis to develop design options or recommendations for structures, systems, and components to meet internal & external customer requirements.
  • Ensure new design options are designed for manufacturability.
  • Maintain an up-to-date, thorough knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal codes/regulations and interpret and apply industry standards (UL, ANSI, NEC) to new designs.

Requirements

  • Proficient in Creo or comparable CAD software.
  • Experience with design and producing parts with 3D printers.
  • Schneider Electric product knowledge or electromechanical design experience.
  • Excellent communication skills for conducting technical presentations and training sessions.
  • Energetic, self-starter able to work effectively with little supervision and on multiple projects at a time.
  • Basic experience in Product Testing and Evaluation Methods (UL/ CSA/NOM/ IEC/ CCC/ ANSI).
  • Strong understanding of Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) principles.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electromechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Additive Manufacturing or related technical support roles.

Nice-to-haves

  • AGILE Methodology knowledge and experience.
  • Circuit Breaker design experience (MCCB and ACB).
  • Knowledge of CAE (Ex, Structural, Thermal, Kinematics, etc).
  • Knowledge of first principles of Physics and Engineering Practice.
  • Familiar with metal stamping, thermoset and thermoplastic molding processes.
  • Familiar with Design for Manufacturability and Design for Assembly techniques.
