About the position

The Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Additive Manufacturing is responsible for leading the adoption and integration of additive manufacturing technologies within the organization. This role serves as the primary authority on all aspects of additive manufacturing, including emerging technologies, material development, and process capabilities. The SME collaborates with global engineering, operations, and business development teams to promote the use of additive manufacturing in core design and manufacturing processes, ensuring alignment with business objectives and defined return on investments (ROIs).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the enterprise leading authority in additive manufacturing and associated processes.
  • Deep understanding of additive manufacturing technology, materials, and applications.
  • Lead contact for external raw material providers for technical exchanges and development of material to meet current and future applications.
  • Lead technical exchanges with customers, operations, engineering, and business development teams to promote adoption of technology.
  • Lead the identification of the right material composition for various applications.
  • Provide expertise in printer programming and functionality.
  • Stay current on the industry through networking, trade shows, and research.
  • Lead our capability to design for additive manufacturing including best practices and identification of applicable design software solutions.
  • Inform the engineering, operations, and business development community of internal and external global capabilities.
  • Advocate for the application of additive manufacturing.
  • Perform studies to support learnings and innovation.
  • Document and maintain standards and best practices related to additive manufacturing.
  • Ensure new applications are utilizing current standards and best practices.
  • Functional deployment of additive manufacturing technology to IPEX/Operations.
  • Deployment of 'hub and spoke' model globally.
  • Support product innovation utilizing additive manufacturing.
  • Support the development of baseline designs and design standards.
  • Support customer visits and feasibility analysis on challenging applications.
  • Support VA/VE activities and capital acquisitions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • 3-5 years' experience in additive manufacturing application development.
  • Automotive experience preferred.
  • Well organized and able to build strong relationships globally.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Innovative problem-solving capabilities.
  • Passionate about the subject and committed to an entrepreneurial and growth mindset.
  • Fluent in English.
