About the position

The Adjunct Instructor of Biology position at Southern Crescent Technical College involves teaching various biology courses, including anatomy and physiology, microbiology, and general biology, both on-campus and online. The role requires the preparation of lesson plans, development of curriculum, and assessment of student learning outcomes. This part-time position is designed for individuals with a strong educational background in biology and a commitment to student success.

Responsibilities

  • Teach on-campus and online classes and laboratories in anatomy and physiology, microbiology, and/or general biology.
  • Prepare lesson plans for both classroom and online instruction.
  • Develop program curriculum, syllabi, goals, and objectives.
  • Evaluate students' progress in achieving goals and objectives.
  • Assess student learning outcomes.
  • Manage laboratories, including ordering lab supplies and maintaining all required documentation and administrative reports.
  • Ensure compliance with all lab safety measures.
  • Attend various professional development training sessions.
  • Participate in departmental, college, and state faculty meetings.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in biology with a minimum of two graduate courses in gross anatomy, or a master's degree in a closely related field with a minimum of 18 semester or 30 quarter graduate hours in biology and two graduate courses in gross anatomy from a regionally accredited college or university.

Nice-to-haves

  • Doctorate in biology with a concentration in human anatomy from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Doctorate from a regionally accredited college or university in medicine (MD), veterinary medicine (DVM), or chiropractic (DC).
