About the position

The Adjudicator/Personnel Security Assistant position at TDEC involves supporting a federal agency by reviewing background investigations and ensuring the completeness and accuracy of e-QIP applications. This hybrid role combines remote work with in-office responsibilities, focusing on assessing applicants' fitness for duty and managing personnel security processes.

Responsibilities

• Review background investigations for completeness and request missing information from investigative service providers or sources directly as necessary.
• Assess severity of derogatory information in background investigations and request additional information if needed.
• Apply guidelines from HSPD-12, Executive Orders, and Title 5 of the Code of Federal Regulations to determine applicant's fitness for duty and suitability for government employment.
• Update FSEM's PS database with access recommendations.
• Process e-QIP or successor e-application system requests.
• Staff the FSEM-PS help desk and assist in the administration of the PIV Card Management Program.
• Screen and release/reject an average of 25 e-QIP cases per day for completeness and accuracy.
• Identify discrepancies and missing information from investigative forms.
• Communicate with personnel being processed for investigation to address incomplete or discrepant information.
• Assist with processing and handling case material receipts, matching receipts with appropriate cases, and tracking unassigned pieces.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree highly desired.
• 2 years of experience in the field.
• Ability to pass a federal background investigation.
• Extensive knowledge of e-QIP screening requirements and materials for OPM Tiered-level investigations.
