About the position

Antelope Valley College is seeking applications for the position of Adjunct Advanced Manufacturing CAD/CAM Instructor. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about teaching and have a strong background in advanced manufacturing technologies, specifically in CAD (Computer Aided Design) and CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing). The instructor will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to students in the assigned discipline, ensuring that they gain the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in the manufacturing industry. The instructor will develop curriculum for courses that align with industry standards and educational best practices. This includes creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for equipment used in the courses, as well as recommending purchase requests for materials and tooling necessary for effective instruction. The position may require teaching courses during various times, including day, evening, and off-campus sessions, which necessitates flexibility and adaptability. Additionally, the instructor will work closely with industry partners to ensure that the curriculum remains relevant and meets the needs of the workforce. Candidates must possess a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree AND two years professional experience OR Associate's degree AND six years of professional experience in CAD/CAM
  • Eight years of experience in design and development, with two years as a supervisor, instructor, trainer, or owner of an aircraft maintenance facility
  • Advanced knowledge of part creation, assembly, and drawings within 3D CAD programs such as Solidworks and/or CATIA / 3DExperience
  • Advanced knowledge of CAM toolpath development within programs like Fusion 360, Solidworks, and/or CATIA / 3DExperience
  • Advanced knowledge of CNC mills, CNC lathes, CNC plasma cutters, and laser cutters, including programming, operation, tooling, and safety
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
  • Evidence of a commitment to teaching/learning and a vision of a learning-centered institution
