About the position

The Adjunct ARC - Architecture position at Northern Virginia Community College involves teaching courses in architecture to a diverse student population. The role requires effective planning and instruction in various formats, including face-to-face, remote, and online classes. Adjunct faculty are contracted to teach a specified number of credit hours each semester, with no guarantee of continued employment beyond the contract period.

Responsibilities

  • Teach specific classes in the designated discipline.
  • Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.
  • Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of NOVA and the VCCS.
  • Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in architecture, architecture or construction technology OR master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours of coursework in architecture.
  • A minimum of two years of full-time, related occupational experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Adept knowledge and experience teaching with a learning management system such as Blackboard/Canvas.
  • Prior experience at the community college level teaching Architecture.
