About the position

The Adjunct Faculty - Digital Media position at Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) offers a dynamic and engaging opportunity for individuals passionate about education and digital media. As an Adjunct Instructor, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of students by delivering high-quality instruction in various digital media courses, including but not limited to Digital Video and Sound, Digital Imaging Fundamentals, and Digital Storytelling. In this position, you will be responsible for planning and executing instructional duties that maximize student learning. This includes supervising students, teaching assigned courses in accordance with departmental expectations, and assisting with registration and recruitment as needed. You will also be required to publish a complete syllabus by the first day of classes, attend scheduled meetings, and evaluate student progress using clear methods outlined in the course syllabus. Maintaining accurate records and submitting grade reports on time are essential components of this role. Additionally, you will be expected to resolve any discipline problems within your sphere of responsibility and provide assistance and counseling to students as necessary. The position requires a commitment to utilizing current instructional methods and technology to enhance the learning experience. You will also participate in an annual evaluation process and maintain open communication with students, faculty, and staff. Responsibilities

  • Plans and carries out instructional duties, maximizing student learning.
  • Supervises students in accordance with program procedures and academic concerns.
  • Teaches assigned courses in accordance with department expectations.
  • Assists with registration and/or recruitment when requested.
  • Publishes complete syllabus to students by the first day classes begin.
  • Attends all scheduled or called meetings by the President, Vice President of Academic Affairs, Deans, or LSSC supervisor, unless excused.
  • Teaches all classes for the full period as scheduled.
  • Evaluates student progress and achievement with clear methods presented on course syllabus.
  • Keeps accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Submits grade reports and other required data on or before deadline dates.
  • Resolves discipline problems within sphere of responsibility.
  • Assists and counsels students as needed.
  • Utilizes material and technology necessary to accomplish designated tasks.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of current instructional methods.
  • Regularly examines content of assigned courses and recommends changes to LSSC supervisor if needed.
  • Complies with appropriate administrative rules/regulations and Board Policy.
  • Participates in an annual evaluation process as specified by the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
  • Maintains continuity of communication with students, community, faculty, staff, and supervisors through timely replies to requests.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree with 18 graduate semester hours in teaching discipline for Transfer Credit Courses.
  • Bachelor's degree in teaching discipline or related area for Developmental Education Credit Courses.
  • Alternative credentialing based on experience and/or industry certifications is possible.
  • Ability to work various hours including nights, early morning, and weekends.
  • Ability to travel amongst various campuses and attend College events, or off campus, as required.
