About the position

St. Clair County Community College is seeking part-time instructors for the position of Adjunct Faculty in Engineering Technology - Advanced Manufacturing. This role is classified as part-time and operates on a semester basis, with the FLSA status being exempt and hourly. The compensation for this position varies based on the instructor's educational qualifications, with a Master's degree (or higher) earning $631 per contact hour and a Bachelor's degree earning $578 per contact hour. The number of contact hours will depend on the specific course offerings available each semester. The primary responsibility of the adjunct faculty member will be to design and deliver instruction to students in a range of undergraduate courses within the Engineering program. This includes preparing and delivering academic instruction, developing syllabi, creating course content, and administering assessments. In addition to teaching, the faculty member will be expected to maintain scheduled office hours for student advising, participate in the development and improvement of academic courses, and engage in the assessment of student learning as per the college's assessment plan. The position may require teaching during morning, afternoon, evening, and online sessions, providing flexibility in scheduling. Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver academic instruction, including developing syllabi, developing content and administering assessments
  • Maintain and submit necessary class records, including early alert and final grade reports and attendance verification for financial aid compliance
  • Participate in student grade appeal procedures
  • Observe college calendar
  • Post and maintain conference hours
  • Participate in assessment of student learning and assessment reporting according to assessment plan

Requirements

  • Minimum of an Associate in Applied Science in an Engineering related field, or a Bachelor's degree in the discipline. Master's degree preferred.
  • 4,000 hours non-teaching related work experience
  • Teaching experience at the higher education level preferred
  • All academic degrees must be from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Ability to maintain good relationships with students, staff, and community members
