About the position

SUNY Westchester Community College seeks a non-credit health adjunct to teach a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant course. The incumbent may teach all or part of the lecture and laboratory practice training and may assist with the delivery of the clinical training in the student supervised clinical work experience. The incumbent will be responsible for comprehensive course instruction within specified program areas, create a course outline and syllabus, present class lectures and educational demonstrations, prepare course benchmarks (such as quizzes and exams) and maintain student grades/attendance reports.

Responsibilities

• Teach all or part of the lecture and laboratory practice training for the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant course.
• Assist with the delivery of clinical training during student supervised clinical work experience.
• Create a course outline and syllabus for the course.
• Present class lectures and educational demonstrations.
• Prepare course benchmarks such as quizzes and exams.
• Maintain student grades and attendance reports.

Requirements

• A minimum of a Master's degree.
• A minimum of one year of employment in a healthcare facility.
• At least one year in an ambulatory healthcare setting performing or observing administrative and clinical procedures.
• Practical occupational experience in EKG, Phlebotomy, pharmacology, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, medical office procedures, computer applications, and medical billing and coding.
• Demonstrated competency to teach adult learners.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Demonstrated knowledge of internet navigation, email, and computer skills.

Nice-to-haves

• A minimum of three years of employment in a healthcare facility is strongly preferred.
• Certification as a Phlebotomist, EKG Tech, Medical Assistant, and Registered Nurse (RN) is preferred.
