About the position

The University of San Diego, Professional and Continuing Education, is seeking an adjunct faculty member to teach and/or develop online classes in the Artificial Intelligence for Business Solutions program. This program consists of eight 1-unit courses, each offered in an online self-paced format, allowing students a period of six months to complete their coursework. Each course is designed to span four weeks, providing a structured yet flexible learning environment for students. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for both teaching and course development. Teaching responsibilities include delivering course content, assessing student progress through formal and informal assessments, holding office hours for student support, and meeting deadlines for submitting grades and attendance records. Additionally, the faculty member will adhere to safety procedures and departmental standards. On the development side, the faculty member will collaborate with the Learning Design Team to create and develop course materials within the university's learning management system, ensuring that all deliverables are met on time. This position is entirely remote, allowing for a flexible work schedule that aligns with the needs of the students and the university. Responsibilities

  • Teach and assess student progress in meeting learning objectives through formal and informal assessments.
  • Hold office hours to support student learning and engagement.

  • Adhere to safety procedures and departmental standards.
  • Collaborate with the Learning Design Team to create and develop course materials in the learning management system.
  • Ensure all deliverables are met on time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of full-time professional experience in relevant fields.
  • Working knowledge of generative AI techniques, such as GANs and VAEs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Data Science, Business Intelligence, Research Science, Big Data, Software Engineering, or Data Analysis.
  • Experience with the Canvas learning management system.
